The Jaques-Dalcroze License
The program is offered by Jack Stevenson, Diplôme Supérieur, and other qualified guest faculty. The program has been registered since 2003 with the College Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva, Switzerland. It is based in the same traditional values handed down by Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, and refined to train and educate the twenty-first century musician and educator. All candidates applying for the Jaques-Dalcroze License must have a Master's degree in music or music education, and hold the Advanced Certificate Jaques-Dalcroze. The examinations are rigorous so that the Licentiate is qualified to enter the Diplôme Jaques-Dalcroze program in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to all of the primary Jaques-Dalcroze subjects, the candidate is expected to demonstrate teaching skill in Eurhythmics, Solfège, and Piano Improvisation at the college or professional level. All examinations and the student teaching stages are performed live while in residence at the Institute. The candidate will also complete the Plastique project while on campus. No video recordings of lessons or Plastique performances are accepted.
The candidate, in conjunction with the director, will choose the topic for the required paper at the first intensive weekend. Please be aware that before any physical examination takes place, the paper is completed and graded.
